Missions Scholarship for Ministry-Bound Students
Scholarships will be awarded in the following manner:
Scholarships will be awarded to a maximum of three students per school year. Each scholarship awarded will be capped at $1,500 per student. The missions committee will make the determination on awards after all applications are received. There will be no automatic renewal of existing scholarships.
Guidelines:
1) Candidates must submit an application for scholarship or a renewal application for scholarship no later than January 1 for the coming school year (beginning in September). There will be no exceptions granted. Any applications received after January 1 will not be considered for scholarship. Scholarship applications and renewal applications are available on the Dayspring Church of God website and are also available through the church office. Completed applications or renewal applications must be submitted to the church office.
2) Candidates must have as their goal full time Christian service. They must have a declared course of study at the institution that reflects this goal.
3) Schools attended by candidates must be approved by the missions committee. Only Christian colleges and universities will be considered.
4) Attendance at Dayspring Church on a regular basis for a minimum of one year prior to applying for the scholarship is required. The candidate’s support in the local ministry of Dayspring is essential.
5) Scholarship recipients must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.5. The missions committee must receive a college grade record for mid-year (end of second quarter or end of first semester) and an end of school year college grade record. If the candidate’s GPA falls below 2.5 then the candidate has one term (one semester or one quarter depending on how the school divides its academic year) to raise their GPA to 2.5 or higher. Failure to raise their GPA to 2.5 or higher could cause them to lose the remainder of their financial scholarship.
6) The student is encouraged to engage in Christian service and internships. The student is encouraged to submit reports of their ministry involvement to the missions committee during the academic year and during their summer break.
