Why Choose Agape

At Agape Children's Center "The heart of the child comes first". This is our mission statement and the decision maker in EVERYTHING we do. Many of our staff have been here for ten or more years and the joy of seeing our students come back year after year is a paycheck in itself. Come in for a tour and you will feel the difference when you walk in the door! God is here!

Curriculum

Creative Curriculum is a comprehensive curriculum and it is structure to the interests of the children. Through the many years that we have provided care, the data gathered has given us proven results that when a "scope and sequence" approach is followed, the end product is a child who is emotionally sound, cognitively prepared and is able to adapt into almost any kindergarten environment. We use individual lesson plans for children age 6 weeks - 3 years and group lesson plans for the children who are 3-10 years.

Our Staff

We take pride in our diverse, Christian staff. Each of our employees is screened with an FBI and BCII fingerprints background check. These prints are then submitted to ODJFS for several more checks against offenders lists before an employee may be in the center.  A thorough medical exam and references are checked before the staff come on board. We have many staff with ten or more years of service with Agape and the reason is we are a family and we do everything as unto Christ. Because of Agape Children's Center Step Up to Quality rating we are able to offer our staff scholarships to continue their education in Early Childhood. If the staff choose the option of attaining and sustaining a CDA (Child Development Associate) there are scholarships for this as well. One visit to Agape Children's Center will confirm there is no other work environment like this anywhere!

Nutritious Meals

At Agape we know how to feed children! Good nutrition is the spring board for a healthy body and a healthy body is able to grow, learn and play. We participate in the CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program). This funding gives us the ability to serve nutritious foods in house prepared in our Award Winning on site kitchen. Fresh fruits and vegetables are a bit more costly but we know it's an expense that pays off because it's vital for healthy children so, we gladly chose to invest in this. We also voluntarily participate in the We Thrive movement. Our kitchen staff are trained in health and safety and our kitchen has won the "Clean Kitchen Award" for 4 years in a row!

Child Development

INFANT CARE

An infant can enroll when they are 6 weeks of age or older. We understand that this is a hard transition and we take great pride in the fact that you have chosen us to love your infant while you are away. As you consider infant care it is very important that you find caregivers who are good communicators. Our degreed staff are available daily to answer your questions, manage your concerns or to be a resource for you with the goals and objectives you have for your child. We have strong relationships with many professional agencies and we constantly get affirmation about the what a great environment our infants experience. Infants are screened using the "Ages and Stages" screener and assessed using the "Teaching Strategies Gold" system. We conference with parents to partner with you in accomplishing the goals and objectives you have as well as the child development and milestones that the Early Learning and Development Standards require.  "Parent's Choice" brand formula is provided free of charge with your tuition. When your infant is ready to eat solid foods we provide these as well. Our onsite laundry facility minimizes the laundry you do at home and allows us to keep your child and their belongings clean at all times.

PRESCHOOL

Our preschool program is for children age 3 (and potty trained) through entry into Kindergarten. The Creative Curriculum encourages that all lesson plans be based on the interests of the children. Our teachers take the time to truly get to know your child and custom create lesson plans to inspire learning. On your tour you will see how inspiring our environment is and how learning can be fun! We work closely with the local school districts to make sure you child has the exposure they need to the Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards.  We have many resources available in our center to get children early intervention if the need arises to work through any challenges they may encounter.

TODDLER CARE

We transition children based on readiness. A child had to be at least 18 months old to transition into our toddler program. If they are 18 months and showing developmental readiness for this age group a transition plan will be put into place in conjunction with the family to support the child through the process. The toddler environment is designed to allow the children to explore and have less restricted space than the infant room. This is a natural progression to development.  All lesson plans are created based on the interest of the child and is play-based. As you decide your child is ready to begin the potty training process we will support this process in the classroom.

SCHOOL AGE
SUMMER CAMP

We have a summer program for children who have completed kindergarten through age 10. All of our experiences are on-site as we do not take field trips off the grounds.  Our facility is beautiful as you will see on your tour.  The children have access to a regulation size gym with basketball court, a well stocked classroom of their favorite items and large outdoor play space. As the children express interest in a game, craft, experience or cooking idea we supply everything they need to complete the activity. We start after Memorial Day and go through the second week of August. Transitional care is available if we have staff members who are able to  accommodate.
